The Miami River is a 5.5 mile (8.9 km) working river that runs through downtown Miami from the Miami Canal at Miami International Airport to the Biscayne Bay. The river originally flowed from the Everglades and was inhabited by the Tequesta Indians at its mouth at what is now the Central Business District.
